Wompfel Pairs Game
Find two the same. Sounds easy.
The matching game with all 35 Wompfel. Most of them are round, pink-rimmed and look at you as if they know more. That is exactly what makes it hard.
Turn over two. Remember. Find again.
Lay out face down
Shuffle all cards and lay them out in a grid with the Wompfel eyes facing up.
Turn over two
Take turns turning over two cards. Same Wompfel? Keep the pair and go again. Otherwise turn them back.
Most pairs wins
When all pairs are gone, count them up. Whoever has the most wins.
Six pairs. Can you do it in ten moves?

Four ways to play.
Everyone knows the basic rule. These four turn it into a Wompfel game.
Three instead of two
Younger players may turn over three cards per turn. For a short round, 8–12 pairs are enough.
No cheering
Wompfel don't cheer, they nod. Anyone who cheers on finding a pair puts it back face down. Slow nodding is very much allowed.
Say the name
A pair only counts if you say the Wompfel's name as you turn it over. Wrong name: turn the cards back.
The move challenge
All 35 pairs in as few moves as possible. Under 90 is good, under 70 is Wompfel level.

What else you need

You play with the paper cards – the pairs game is for ages 8 and up. The Wompfel in the shop are something else: collector's figures, made in Germany and finished by hand, for ages 14 and up and explicitly not a toy.

What does the pairs game cost?
Nothing. No account, no sign-up, no email address. The print sheet is a PDF you download and keep.
Do I need to buy Wompfel figures?
No. You play only with the paper cards. The figures in the shop are collector's figures for ages 14 and up and not a toy.
What age is it for?
Ages 8 and up. In the family round, younger players may turn over three cards per turn, so everyone plays on a level field.
Do I have to print all 70 cards?
No. Each sheet holds six pairs. For a short round, one or two sheets are enough – 8 to 12 pairs.
